Vladimir Guerrero says he has no problem with his knees

According to Vladimir Guerrero of the Los Angeles Angels, he does not have any knee problems nor will he undergo surgery. Guerrero said his mother’s side of the family had one leg longer than the other and that he inherited it. That’s why he sometimes looks like he’s limping, but that wasn’t a given. Guerrero told reporters through a translator.

Last season Guerrero had pain in his right knee and doctors recommended surgery. However, by spring training the pain was gone and Guerrero decided not to have surgery as a result.

In 2006, Guerrero hit .329 with 33 home runs and 116 RBIs. This was his third season with the Angels. Unfortunately for Guerrero, he was the best outfielder in the American League with 11 errors. Guerrero insists that the errors were not caused by his knee problems.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia had said earlier this spring that he intended to give Guerrero and Garret Anderson more time this season as designated hitters. Last season Guerrero was the designated hitter 30 times.

Guerrero said that when he played in the National League there was no designated hitter and his knee hurt more since he played on grass and didn’t take any days off. However, he was now healthy and if Scioscia wanted him to be the designated hitter, he would be happy to take responsibility.
