Do you know that you can connect Google Calendar to your Android phone? Since you don’t always sit around your PC, and when you want to access your calendar, you can’t do it from your PC. Imagine that you have parked your car in the morning, but you will have to take it at 5 pm to pave the way for street cleaning or you will get a ticket. Of course, you’ll likely forget to add an item like “Move my car by 5pm” to your calendar, which means you have to wait until you’re on your PC to add the reminder.

There are a few ways to sync Google Calendar with your Android phone, regardless of whether you own an advanced smartphone or a “dumb” basic phone.

Sync with Android phones. If you have an Android phone, then it’s easy. Android works effortlessly with Google Calendar; You just need to sign in to your Google account directly on your Android device, and it will automatically set your phone’s calendar to sync with Google Calendar. Any occasion you add from your Android phone will automatically sync to GCal wirelessly.

If you own an iPhone, BlackBerry, ZTE Blade V880 or Windows Mobile phone, syncing your phone’s calendar with Google Calendar is just as easy when you use the free Google Mobile Sync tool for your specific phone. Simply go to the Google Sync page and continue with the setup instructions for your phone.

Add events via SMS. Don’t have a trendy smartphone? No problem, you can still get event notifications, add events, or even check your calendar from any device that supports SMS messaging.

First, open Google Calendar settings and link your phone with GCal. Select Settings, Calendar Settings, Mobile Settings, and continue with Google’s instructions to authenticate your phone. Once your phone number is authenticated, GCal will send you event notifications via email or SMS.

You can even include an SMS reminder as your default notification schemes, that you will always receive notifications for various upcoming events, no matter where you are, as long as you have carried your phone.

Once you’ve linked your phone number to your GCal account, you can check your calendar, including creating new events, by texting the Google Calendar number GVENT (48368). For example, if you need today’s schedule, just text the word “day” and send it to GVENT.

Better yet, you can create new events by texting GVENT, and the nice thing is that it supports similar plain language input that GCal’s Quick Add button employs. For example, if you text GVENT “Move my car at 5:30 pm”, Google Calendar will make it a new event on your calendar.
