Sex: the perfect workout

Arguably one of the three biggest money makers of all time, sex joins the ranks of drugs and sports in having a global impact that affects us all. Sex can be an expression of the highest kind of love between two people, or it can mean something as degrading and destructive as the act of rape. Of the many sides of sex, for a moment we will move away from the emotional and spiritual ties to it and focus merely on the physical side of sex.

Sex is great! You can never underestimate the benefits of sex. When viewed as regular physical activity and/or exercise, you get all of the following benefits, if not more! I will use the following benefit scheme, derived from the ACSM Guidelines(1), to increase the value of sex in our modern lives. (My comments in italics.)

Improvement in cardiovascular and respiratory function

  • Increased maximal oxygen consumption”
  • Decreased heart rate and blood pressure”
  • Increased capillary density in skeletal muscle”
  • Increased exercise threshold”

Sex increases your fitness levels so that you have a lower heart rate, lower blood pressure, and greater muscle development.

Reduction of risk factors for coronary artery disease

  • Reduced resting systolic/diastolic pressure”
  • Increased serum high-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and decreased serum triglycerides”
  • Reduction of total body fat, reduction of intra-abdominal fat”
  • Reduced insulin needs, improved glucose tolerance”

By improving the health of your heart, having sex reduces your risk of heart attack and stroke. Keep those arteries and veins clear through physical activity (ie sex!).

Decreased morbidity and mortality

  • Higher levels of activity and/or physical fitness are associated with lower mortality rates from coronary artery disease.”
  • Higher levels of activity and/or fitness are associated with lower incidence rates of combined cardiovascular disease, coronary artery disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, osteoporotic fractures, colon and breast cancer, and gallbladder disease. bile”.

Who in the world would not want to improve their well-being and avoid diseases and cancers? If the exercise is too much for you, have sex! Intercourse will get your heart rate up for a workout and put your muscles through a cardiovascular resistance workout with weights.

Other Postulated Benefits

  • Decreased anxiety and depression”
  • Improved physical function and independent living in older people”
  • Enhanced feelings of well-being”
  • Improved performance of work, recreational and sports activities”

Each of these benefits could be a title unto itself. Relieve stress! Live independently in your golden years! Feel good! Work better, play better and compete better! Sex as physical activity and/or exercise does all of this for you.Additional benefits:

To see an improvement in your health and well-being, an aerobic activity that gets your heart rate up for 20-30 minutes is great. If you compare this to sexual intercourse, men will typically have to wait a bit longer considering that their orgasm occurs on average within the first 15 minutes. This can be challenging, however the cardiovascular benefits to come are well deserved.

Muscle Benefits
Did you know that there is no other exercise that uses the whole body? Some might argue that swimming or wrestling does, however when you consider the various planes of motion and the different directions in the movement of forces, engaging in sex will exercise muscles you never knew you had! Vary the positions and keep your body guessing what it will require of you next.

Use your imagination. The activity itself is free of any rigid planes of motion (ie exercise machine), so feel free to stretch, become more flexible, and use a variety of positions.

The best position for sex
And now what we have all been waiting for, THE best position for sex. I first heard this in 2005 when I was at summer camp and we were talking about men, women, and relationships. Without further ado, there are three rules for having the best position in sex.

Period. Anything outside of these three rules is chaos and not as it should be. If you play outside of these rules, your life will suffer. If, on the contrary, you want to enjoy the best sex of your life, you already know exactly what you have to do.
