Relationship Tip #6 – Remember the little things

20-02-2023

Sure, you’ve heard it said time and time again… It’s the little things that will kill you. The funny thing is… it’s true! In relationship building, it’s in the attention to detail. Guys, have you ever made the fatal mistake of not noticing the fact that your sweetheart got a haircut? Sure death!

Mandatory is just that

Doing something special for that special someone only on the required days is simply “the ante on the table,” the bare minimum to get into the game. What are the mandatory days? Know; Valentine’s Day, birthday, Christmas, etc. Gifts on those obligatory days do little more than give that special someone “bragging rights.” “Look what he/she has in store for me!” Just doing something on mandatory days is the domain of Relationship Losers. And trust me, that’s not where you want to be.

unexpected times

This is where you earn real relationship points. To be a relationship winner, you better work on making relationship points, at least twice a week; every day is much better. To earn a relationship point, you don’t have to spend money, better yet, spend your time. This is how the actual points are earned. For guys, your unexpected kindness could be as simple as making the bed, getting up first and making the coffee, doing the dishes… really, anything that is considered “domestic” is a great place to start, especially considering that could very well be where you fall down, relationship points wise, more. Also, for your special person; write a poem or leave a love note – great relationship points there. In this area, there are no rules, just great ideas. For girls, this is their specialty, so I don’t need to go into details. However, remember that it is what he wants, not what you want. This is not the place to attribute to the golden rule, since that would be doing what you want.

Small daily gestures

If you can, make an effort daily to offer a small, unexpected gesture of love, respect, and appreciation for that special someone. These little things will go a long way in building a strong foundation in the relationship and will surely eliminate most of the grievances your partner might bring up. Each gesture is another Relationship Bank Deposit that, together, over time, will add up to huge relationship savings. And trust me, things sure do happen, no matter who you are. One day, you will be incredibly grateful for all the little things you did for your sweetie. Little things add up. Little things matter.
