Reasons you should consider becoming a virtual assistant

In this year and time, everything is related to the Internet. From shopping, banking, paying bills, social interaction, communication and all the actions that humans do today, they were somehow linked to the use of the Internet. For several years he had had a very traditional job in retail. However, personal circumstances made me reconsider my current situation. A part of me always feels that traditional jobs here in the Philippines are time consuming. With a standard 48-hour job and one day off per week, quality time with family and colleagues seems unlikely. So if work schedules take up a lot of our time, is it worth it after all? This question bothered me for many months. Then one day I came across the KOM Academy Facebook post for a free “How to be a Virtual Assistant” seminar. Curious, I immediately asked and pre-registered for this event. It was then that I realized that there are many opportunities outside of the traditional work environment.

By the way, what is a virtual assistant? These are smart people offering administrative, creative and technical skills to remote clients. So what made me think that this virtual job is incredibly better than my previous job? Reason number 1, “I’m my boss”! As a VA, as they call it, you work as an independent contractor for the client. Which means that you do not work for a company or an employer, but they subcontract you to provide the services they need. On this, you are not limited to working for a single client. Hence the second reason: more customers, more revenue. By this I mean that you cannot limit yourself to just one source of income. You are in control to expand your financial earnings as you see fit. The third reason is home based. What is it not to love working in the comforts of your space? No hassle from commuting, dealing with the worsening city traffic situation, rising transportation costs, annoying amnesiac office mates who always borrow your things but never bother to return them are just a few of the mentions.

If there is a convenience in the environment, the work schedule is something that is also flexible in this industry. That is the fourth reason why I considered getting involved in this business. The possibility that they give you a schedule that is favorable to your liking is something very unusual in traditional jobs. Often times, you must have a full-time job to earn a decent salary. Whereas in VA, even part-time jobs can bring in a good salary. Mainly because you are paid based on the quality of your work output and not just the amount of hours you put in. In addition, results-based jobs present more opportunities for workers to be promoted, since evaluation is done in real time.

The fifth reason I seriously consider this job is never boring. As mentioned above, VAs provide a different service, from administrative to creative and even technical for those highly trained people like programmers. Therefore, this job can present you with a wide range of tasks that you can explore and hone your skills.

These things cited above are just a few of the factors why I considered becoming a Virtual Assistant. Having the comfort of time and place at your fingertips is a privilege that an ordinary worker will not be able to experience in a traditional work environment. As I progress in my journey into this business, I hope to discover more things to love and enjoy.
