Positive effects of violence
PetsViolence is always presented as negative behavior intended to hurt someone, with no positive effects. But is aggressive behavior always negative or are there positive effects of violence?
Observed in the context of different real-life situations, aggressive behavior occurs very frequently and, in my opinion, is often justified.
Also, I could say that it is often unfortunately necessary.
A man who used a gun against a robber to protect himself and his family, a policeman who killed a terrorist, a woman who used tear gas to get rid of the attacker, etc… These are all real-life, everyday examples. in which aggressive behavior was necessary. . In addition, important institutions in almost all countries use violence to maintain peace (police, army…). In addition, members of these organizations obtain rewards, promotions and prizes because of the violence.
In short, violence and aggression are only justified in self-defense.
So the bottom line is that aggressive behavior is absolutely necessary (to prevent unintended consequences), useful, and justified (because it is used in self-defense) in today’s society.
But when we look at just violence and aggressive behavior, as an isolated action without context, it’s always negative and I can’t seem to find a way that it can be positive.
Difference between aggression and violence.
Violence is the closest term to aggression. Violence can be defined as an assault on another person or group of people, with serious injury or serious property damage.
It is obvious that the term violence is only a smaller part of aggression: violence refers only to physical harm, while aggression refers to any intention to harm or hurt someone physically or verbally. And it doesn’t matter if that attack actually happened or failed at some point.
Basically, when we talk about violence, we can use the term aggression. But when we talk about aggression, we cannot use the term violence.
