MobiGo tactile learning system

13-09-2021

My son’s grandparents gave the MobiGo Touch Learning System as a birthday present on his fourth birthday. Among all the toys he received, he claims this is his favorite, but again he says the same for all his toys 😉 He has named the toy his iPhone as he quite liked mine.

The MobiGo Touch with its QWERTY keyboard and touchscreen was definitely a good choice for my 4-year-old geek. Although I was concerned that the system was too complicated for him, he mastered the keyboard in a few days. Their three- and four-year-old cousins, on the other hand, are still struggling a bit, which leaves me to think that some others may have some challenges using the keyboard.

That said, the touch, swipe, stroke, and drag-and-drop touchscreen will still be a lot of fun. This handheld set is the right size and weight, making it easy to carry on short and long trips. The activities available so far are quite inviting, so you can count on at least thirty minutes to an hour of quiet time once they start.

The MobiGo Touch Learning System comes in blue or pink and each purchase includes:

  • MobiGo touch screen learning system
  • USB cable to download games from the Vtech site
  • 1 learning cartridge
  • User manual
  • Soft clothes

Additional accessories such as the game case and additional cartridges can be purchased separately. You will also need to buy 4 AA batteries which are not included.

I like MobiGo, but I think Vtech really has a lot of work to do to deliver the necessary games to make this a must-buy. New game releases are expected in October, just before the holiday season. As long as they are as good as I hope they are, this will be one of my top picks for 2010.

It’s not that there are no games available. So far, some of the interactive games feature well-known characters such as Ben, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Nascar, Disney Princesses, Shrek. Mr. Men and Little Miss, Dora the Explorer, Disney Fairies, Disney Toy Story and a few others.

Of course, you will have to pay a small fee to purchase additional game cartridges.

Until more games are released, you decide if it is worth buying.
