Futures End 0 (DC Comics, The New 52)

DC Comics has released number 0 of ‘Futures End’, which was a special edition. The story gives an idea of ​​what the imminent future of the Earth of the DC Universe could be under the era of the ‘New 52’.

The story is set thirty-five years from now, in a dark future of machines, in which to take control of the Earth. Manipulated and controlled by the entity known as ‘Brother Eye’, the mechanically enhanced super beings freely roam the surface in search of the few sentient beings left to be hunted, annihilated or transformed as part of the system.

Being set in the future, today’s heroes are seen in their aged form. However, despite their elder attributes, they continue to do their job to fight any form of evil. However, the enemy has already dominated the world and his resistance is not equal to his power.

Even those who fight each other are now working together against a common enemy. Flash and Captain Cold are longtime rivals today. However, right now, they support each other to have a better chance of survival. However, perhaps due to their old stature, Frankenstein easily knocks them down. Frankenstein used to be friends with Flash, but has voluntarily placed himself under the rule of ‘Brother’s Eye’.

Perhaps the greatest tragedy that has occurred and that has made all of this what it is, is the fall of one of the most powerful superheroes on Earth. As mentioned by John Stewart, who is still doing his duty as Earth’s Green Lantern at this time, Superman’s absence was seen as a great fear. And now the great hero who once fought for truth and justice is now a powerful marionette powered by a machine that carries out his master’s orders. Other than Flash and John Stewart, others still thrived for a last-ditch effort at existence, but their efforts were to no avail. Among them were Blue Beetle, Amethyst, and Grifter. All of them, like the previous ones, fell into the hands of the Eye.

Possibly, as the main person who made all of this possible, he is also the world’s best-known hero. Batman, along with Mister Terrific, were responsible for the creation of ‘Brother Eye’. And now the whole world suffered for them. In his latest effort to undo the evil he had done, he designed a time travel device that would allow him to prevent his former self from creating this mechanical monster. But before he could set out on this time travel, he was attacked by the Eye through its robotic mercenaries. In his last moments, he handed over the task at hand to Terry, considered the Batman of that time. Terry was able to go back in time. However, it seemed too late for him, because the things he was supposed to stop had apparently begun.

This is just the hint of the other events that would follow in this long history and that would likely affect the entire DC Universe.
