Becoming a doctor is a dream for many, given its status as a noble profession that also brings wealth. Therefore, there is a flood of candidates seeking admission to the best medical schools every year. To select the best, universities follow rigorous selection procedures that help spot the cream.

Prerequisites for the best medical schools

The first prerequisite to get into the best universities is to get good scores in subjects like general biology, chemistry, physics, and calculus. Candidates can enroll in pre-medical schools to improve their prospects. Other requirements to enter the best medical schools are:

  • High Grade Point Average (GPA): Most colleges require candidates to achieve at least a 3.5 GPA to apply. That is, getting into the best medical schools would require a higher GPA. Whatever their preference, candidates should always strive for the best possible scores.

The top universities in the field of research are Harvard University, Johns Hopkins University, University of Pennsylvania, University of California -San Francisco and Duke University. The best ones for primary care are the University of Washington, the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Oregon Health and Science University, and Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, among others. Although the cost of studying in different top universities may vary, they are always expensive.
