What is the first thing we notice about someone else’s appearance? . . His face, of course. The era of proper facial skin care that is only for women has passed. Men are now appreciating the value of “good” skin every day we age. Whether you have acne, wrinkles, freckles, or anything else you consider blemishes, skincare routines are never too late to implement. Seeing the myriad of products on the shelves that claim to do one thing and another product that claims to do another can be very intimidating as well as misleading. This article sets out to give you the basics that will be all you need to start your journey to getting a pretty, clean, clear face. Our skin is the largest organ in our body, so let’s take care of it.

The basic skincare routine

Step 1: cleaning

What are you doing?

Eliminates excess oil on the surface and pores of the skin.

Helps the cell renewal process

Removes dirt and grime

Kills bacteria

How to use it?

Wash your hands

Splash warm water on your face. It is best to use warm water as it helps to open the pores and then any type of face wash is applied to penetrate deep into the skin. Hot water can burst capillaries and you will have ugly red twists on your skin that are obviously unwanted.

Apply a small amount of cleanser to your hands (or a cloth / gauze) and lather. Then rub it gently on your face avoiding being too harsh.

Cleanse from neck up to hairline by rubbing in a circular motion, making sure to get every spot.

Rinse skin with cool water. Repeat several times if necessary until all of the cleaner is removed.

Step 2: exfoliate

What are you doing?

Eliminates dead skin cells.

It will help the effectiveness of the moisturizer that is then applied

Removes dull top layers and reveals healthy new layers.

Reveals healthy new layers of skin

Skin looks and feels healthier. Suffocate and softer

How to use it?

Splash warm water on your face

Rub it gently on your face avoiding being too harsh

Massage in circular motions for a few minutes.

Rinse the skin to remove it.

A scrub should be used every day. The face is very sensitive and should only be exfoliated according to many research papers 1 to 3 times a week. If you feel any irritation from using it too often, don’t use it as much. Find the best option for you, since our skin reacts in different ways from one person to another.

Step 3: hydrate

What are you doing?

Preservation of normal skin

It prevents the skin from becoming too dry or oily.

Replenish moisture and nutrients

Lubricates and softens the skin.

It can give a nice and healthy glow.

How to use it?

Apply the moisturizer to damp skin after cleansing.

Do not apply around the eyes. Some say it doesn’t matter, but the skin around the eyes is different from the rest of the face. The skin is much more sensitive and could react negatively with moisturizers that are too rich. This could depend on the type of skin you have and the type of product you are using.

It is suggested to use it for the neck and face.

Which moisturizer is best for you?

At the most basic level, moisturizers retain water in the outermost layer of the skin. They also act as a temporary barrier. Many moisturizers contain some combination of moisturizers and emollients, as well as other ingredients.

The most suitable moisturizer for you depends on many factors, including your skin type, your age, and whether you have specific conditions, such as acne. For general guidelines, consider the following:

Dry Skin. To restore moisture to dry skin, choose a thicker oil-based moisturizer that contains ingredients like antioxidants, grapeseed oil, or dimethicone, which help keep skin hydrated. For very dry and cracked skin, petroleum jelly-based products are preferable. They have more staying power than creams and are more effective at preventing water from evaporating from the skin.

Oily skin. This type of skin is prone to acne and breakouts. Although oily, this skin still needs moisture, especially after using skin care products that remove oil and dry it out. A light moisturizer can also help protect your skin after washing. Choose a water-based product that is labeled “non-comedogenic,” which means it won’t clog your pores.

Sensitive skin. Sensitive skin is susceptible to irritation, redness, itching, or rashes. Look for a moisturizer that contains soothing ingredients like chamomile or aloe and is free of potential allergens, like fragrances or dyes. Also, avoid products that contain acids, which can irritate sensitive skin.

Mature skin As you age, your skin tends to dry out because your oil-producing glands become less active. To keep your skin smooth and well hydrated, choose an oil-based moisturizer that contains petroleum jelly as a base, along with antioxidants or alpha hydroxy acids to fight wrinkles. These ingredients help retain moisture and prevent flaky and flaky skin.

Normal skin Normal skin is neither too dry nor too oily. To maintain this natural moisture balance, use a water-based moisturizer that has a light, non-greasy feel. These moisturizers often contain light oils, such as cetyl alcohol, or ingredients derived from silicone, such as cyclomethicone.
