Final Fantasy for PSP

This article describes the different Final Fantasy games available for the PSP and an excellent source where you can get them from. The PSP has become a great source for Final Fantasy games, which means you’ll never be far from your favorite series.

The first in the series is a remake of Final Fantasy 1, called Final Fantasy Anniversary Edition. This is really aimed at people who haven’t played the original and want to delve into the Final Fantasy story. The graphics are very nice and the random battle system is always present, but considering that the original is 20 years old, some elements may be missing. However, it is still worth checking out, as there is an additional dungeon that will be a great challenge for even the most experienced players.

Logically, the next FF game is Final Fantasy 2 Anniversary Edition. Graphically, this is even better than the first. There have been some nice additions to the system and you will find more combat opportunities as the random battles get thick and fast. A big selling point of the game is that the story is more complicated and interesting than the first installment, which is a big factor for many fans. There’s plenty to keep you busy too, as you can play for around 40 hours or more.

As a side note, these two have already been officially released in most countries, but I’ll tell you later how you can get hold of them.

The latest and greatest FF game to officially launch for PSP is Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. This for me was the first game I played within the Tactics series, I had avoided them before because I thought it would just be a fight without any story … I was wrong! The first thing that struck me about this game was the graphics and the camera angle. Anyone who has loved the look of Final Fantasy 7 is going to love this.

In my opinion, some of the more recent Final Fantasy games have been oversimplified and lost some appeal, however this game will remind you of what brings you to the series in the first place. There is a great class and job system that really adds depth to your characters, there are an almost infinite amount of combinations that you can create.

Something that is not of the series with this game are the cut scenes that have acquired a more cartoon feel, this gives a new dimension to the game that makes it much more than a remake.

There are more Final Fantasy games for PSP in development, the first to look out for is Crisis Core, which is a spinoff and prequel to Final Fantasy 7. This has been in development for almost 4 years and promises great gameplay and soundtrack. Also on the horizon is Dissidia: Final Fantasy. This sounds very interesting, since it will actually incorporate several characters that you would have met throughout the entire Final Fantasy series.
